PICAROON - RACING AND BREEDING PROSPECT
By the outstanding staying influence FIORENTE.
She is the winner of 9 races and over $625,000. A winner from 1200 metres all the way up to 2000 metres, this mare is a model of consistency with potential upside given her pedigree.
She has yet to be tested at a true staying distance and one only needs to look at last month’s Group 2 Adelaide Cup winner, Silent Surrente, to see how effective older Fiorente mares are once stepped up in trip. That mare in question has proved a revelation once tried over a staying trip, finishing a very narrow runner up in the Group 3 Lord Reims - with the winner also being by Fiorente - before going on to stylishly win the Adelaide Cup.
PICAROON is a multiple Metro winning mare who was victorious over the Flemington Spring Carnival as well as in multiple Country Cups. She possesses excellent tactical speed to go along with a strong turn of foot as evidenced by her win at Flemington on Oaks Day.
She handles all track surfaces and as such can be raced all through the year, regardless of conditions. She has an excellent constitution and thrives on her work.
PICAROON is fully VOBIS qualified which had proven very lucrative for her connections, in particular in Country Cups which offer big VOBIS bonuses, and can also be a source of further prize money for her new connections.
PICAROON is an impressive individual, standing at 16.1HH and weighing 525kg, is straightforward to ride, easy to handle and travels without any trouble.
She swims both in the pool and at the beach regularly, works on the treadmill, and is free from any known stable vices.
Given her excellent racecourse form, alongside her impressive physical stature and outstanding sire in FIORENTE we feel she has great potential as a broodmare once her racing days are over, however her owner has made the decision to downsize his numbers and does not aspire to breed so with that in mind she finds herself on the market with considerable racing and breeding upside ahead of her.
She has been spelling since her most recent start and can be inspected upon arrangement at Bellarine Peninsula Thoroughbred Farm.
