Blue Gum Farm is pleased to present WHAT A DIVA (NZ), a beautifully bred 13-year-old daughter of influential broodmare sire PENTIRE, offered with her colt foal at foot by proven Group 1 sire FLYING ARTIE.
Although retired early from racing, WHAT A DIVA made an impression in her short career — winning twice and placing twice from just four starts. She has since transitioned to broodmare duties with success and now offers a unique opportunity to invest in a mare from a blacktype family with a foal-on-ground by a proven sire.
Her yearling colt by CHURCHILL is being retained to race by her current owners, reflecting their confidence in her ability to produce strong, commercial and athletic types.
The foal at foot is by FLYING ARTIE, a Group 1-winning son of Artie Schiller and the sire of global sprint stars ARTORIUS (G1 Blue Diamond Stakes & G1 Canterbury Stakes) and ASFOORA (Winner of the G1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot). FLYING ARTIE’s foals continue to impress with their scope, balance and quality — this colt is no exception.
WHAT A DIVA is a half-sister to New Zealand Champion colt and Group 1 winner FULLY FLEDGED, as well as FLEDGLING, a stakes performer who produced multiple stakes winner BASSETT — a family that continues to fire in both Australia and New Zealand.
WHAT A DIVA’s sire PENTIRE has become a sought-after broodmare sire, with his daughters producing G1 winners such as SHOOT OUT, PENNYWEKA and SAINT EMILION. PENTIRE mares are known for producing tough, high-quality gallopers who can compete at the highest level across multiple distances — an excellent trait to have in any broodmare pedigree.
WHAT A DIVA is not currently in foal, however she is in excellent physical condition and can be efficiently managed to be covered early this breeding season, setting her up to produce an early 2026 foal — a commercial asset for breeders.
