Description

Mrs Gardenia is a Group 2-placed daughter of Rip Van Winkle and a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner MacO’reilly and the Group 2-performed Gris Dame.

A well-credentialed mare with good length of leg and excellent scope, she carries strength through her hindquarter and shoulder, offering the physical attributes breeders value in a producing broodmare. She stands at 16.1 hands high and is perfectly sound but is kept in front shoes for management purposes.

Rip Van Winkle is doing a terrific job as the broodmare sire of 10 stakes performers featuring Group 1 winner and now stallion, Noverre, as well as the inform Group 2 winning mare, Grinzinger Belle.

Mrs Gardenia has had five foals, with two named and both to race. Both are also expected to improve as they rise in trip.

Chaparral Chase (by So You Think) won his maiden smartly at the Sunshine Coast in October and is currently in training with Jim Mason. His older sister Kalbar Queen (by Dundeel) has had just the one start last year and is back in work with Jack Bruce at the Sunshine Coast. She went nicely to place third in her recent trial at the Sunshine Coast.

Mrs Gardenia has a 2YO filly by All Too Hard as well as a Pierata yearling colt and a Better Than Ready filly foal, all of which will be retained by her breeders to race.

Mrs Gardenia has no vices and is being sold unreserved.
