An attractive filly, Slim Pickings remains in work and has shown promise in her limited race career to date. She presents as a genuine dual – purpose prospect with racing upside and excellent residual broodmare value.

Her sire, Astern (By Medaglia d’Oro), was a brilliant Gr 1 – winning sprinter and winner of the Golden Rose. He was made his mark at stud, siring Group winners such as Golden Mile, Aft Cabin and Sail By, with his progeny known for their turn of foot and sharp acceleration.

Her dam, Cangino, is a stakes – producing daughter of Perugino and a half – sister to 3 time champion sire I Am Invincible, whose influence as both a sire and broodmare sire is incredible. Cangino has produced multiple winners, including Gr 2 winner and stakes performer Tamaanee, and hails from one from one of Australia’s, most commercial and precocious families.
