Description
Super Proud is a European-bred mare by proven broodmare sire Pivotal, out of the winning mare Tadpole (Sir Percy). She hails from a strong international family that includes Beaten Up, a Gr.1 winner and multiple Group placegetter; Harris Tweed, a Gr.3 and multiple Listed winner in the UK; and Vow, a stakes winner who was also placed in the English Oaks. The family also features notable producers such as Tweed, a modest two-time winner who went on to produce the multiple Group winner Hamish, notably second in the prestigious Gr.1 Coronation Cup and Gr.1 Irish St. Leger.
Super Proud was herself a winner in the UK and was trained by top trainer William Haggas. She is the dam of one foal by young sire Diatonic, a multiple Group-winning Japanese sprinter-miler by Lord Kanaloa. Known for his brilliance, toughness, and versatility, Diatonic earned over $5.2 million on the track. He boasts a powerful pedigree, descending from the direct female line of Halo and Northern Dancer—two of the most influential bloodlines in modern breeding. Diatonic covered a stellar book of mares in his debut season at stud, including elite race mares Snapdancer, In Her Time, and Melody Belle.
In 2024, Super Proud was covered by Group-producing sire Lucky Vega, sire of the 2025 Gr.2 Sweet Embrace Stakes winner Within The Law. Lucky Vega has proven to be an exceptional investment for breeders, with his 2025 yearlings selling for up to $380,000 and averaging eight times their service fee.
