Description
A debut winner at two, and runner-up in the Group Three VRC Vanity Stakes (1400m) at three, Redoute’s Choice mare Extra Olives is proving to be an outstanding producer, with four winners from four runners highlighted by her very smart three-year-old Spicy Martini, winner of the Group Three BRC Fred Best Classic (1350m) earlier this month.
Bred by Arrowfield Stud, Extra Olives is a beautiful style of mare who realised $500,000 as a yearling, and she sold for $875,000 when most recently offered as a broodmare. She is carrying a positive pregnancy to St Mark’s Basilica.
A World Champion 3YO, European Champion 2YO & Cartier Horse Of The Year, St Mark’s Basilica’s first crop yearlings proved very popular this year, selling to $700,000, with an average of over $162,000, and a median of $140,000. He also had 10 second crop weanlings offered for sale here this year, with three of them selling for six figures ($150,000, $140,000 & $110,000).
This is a mare with very good upside. Aside from her three-time Stakes winner Spicy Martini, Extra Olive’s is also the dam of the very smart Hong Kong galloper Mask Rider, and she also has a yearling colt and a weanling filly by Home Affairs to race for her. Selling for $240,000 as a weanling, her Home Affairs colt was his sire’s third highest-priced weanling from his first crop.
