** Please note The Darling has a breathing issue and there is a vet report regarding this issue attached for those of you who may like to race the horse after purchase.
The Darling is a speedy mare out of a terrific family. She was the winner of 3 races, placed 6 times and only missed out on a cheque once in her racing career. She was unlucky on many of those placings, beaten by bad barriers, weight or the fact she just found a better horse. However, as mentioned above, she did all of this with a breathing issue. She has been a terrific horse for the current ownership group, but they have decided to dissolve the partnership rather than undertake the wind operation on the mare.
Attached as part of the sales documents is a vet report outlining the extent of the breathing issue and the thoughts of the vet on the undertaking the wind operation.
If you choose not to race, then The Darling will make an outstanding broodmare. Standing at 16 hands and weighing 500kg, and with looks that will turn heads; she would be an asset to any stud’s broodmare band. She is by the wonderful Queensland sire in Spirit Of Boom and out of Limealicious, who herself is by the very sort after broodmare sire in Exceed and Excel. Limealicious herself ran 4th in the Listed Schiavello Stakes in Melbourne as a 2 year old. Limelicious was sold at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $350k to Newgate and has been a superb producer of 6 foals all to race for 6 winners. Theses winners include-
Ef Troop( Spirit of Boom)- Multiple black type winner, running 4th in the Magic Millions 2 year old race and gaining a start in the Golden Slipper that year. He is a winner or black type placed in 3 different states and has earnt over $570k on the race track.
Nuclear Summit (Spirit of Boom) (now Fifer in Macau)- Winner of a Sydney Saturday Metro Race and has won over $120k on the track before being exported to Macau.
Lime Soda (Spirit of Boom)- Winner of her first start then straight into a black type race in the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
This makes The Darling a full sister to 3 well credentialed horses and the family has every chance of further black type success, with a Capitalist colt and a Lonhro colt still to come.
