Description
Wanting a straight forward, quiet and consistent horse to train? Look no further!
Tommy as he is affectionately known as around the stables is a 5yo gelding standing around the 15.3hh mark and of solid, yet athletic build.
Tommy is the type of gelding anyone and everyone can ride, he is a top ride around the track, beach, bush etc never leaves a grain of feed, and is a farriers dream. He is a fantastic traveller and doesn't have a mean bone in him.
Tommy has probably had his best and most consistent preparation thus far this time in, he has always shown plenty of ability but has been plagued with bad rides and big weights his entire career. He is versatile from 1000m to 1400m
and we have stepped him up over further on 2 occasions but I believe he doesn't comfortably see out much further than 1400m unless he settles better.
He was a very unlucky fourth at Grafton 5 starts ago (watch replay) then another unlucky 2nd at Bowraville the start after that, we then stepped him upto the 1700m which he just didn't run out at all, spaced his run and he ran a tough 3rd at Lismore on an unsuitable track. Then he finally put it together and led all the way to win by 5.5Lengths at Casino, last start at Murwillumbah he over raced early and didn't see out the 1550m on the heavy track.
He handles most surfaces, and most track types, can race on speed or be held up and find the line. I believe the penny has only just dropped with this horse and he has really started to put it together this preparation. He is fit and ready to race in your colours next week. He will win plenty more races if placed accordingly and given some weight relief.
Will suit South Australian racing or North Queensland we believe, but in saying that he has been competitive in the very strong company of the Northern rivers and North Coast.
