Description
OPTIMIST is by the great US stallion RED RANSOM out of TUGELA. This is one of Tony Santic’s best families, with this mare being a half-sister to the infallible MAKYBE DIVA.
MAKYBE DIVA should need no introduction, as the two-time Australian Horse of the Year winner, Champion Middle Distance Horse in Australia (2005-06), Head of the 2005-06 Australian 4yo+ Classification and a winner of over $14.5 million. She won 15 times in her career, including seven at G1 level; the G1 Melbourne Cup an astounding three-times, the G1 MVRC WS Cox Plate, G1 BMW Stakes, G1 VRC Australian Cup (in track record time) and the G1 AJC Sydney Cup. She won a further four stakes races and placed in a 11 Group races. A superior mare of her time, this is a filly not to be missed!
Further to this, OPTIMIST is a half-sister to the G2 Shannon Stakes winner MUSKET who stands at stud in Western Australia, as well as the six-time winning mare LA AMISTAD who won multiple stakes races including the Andrew Ramsden Stakes.
Further to this, she is a half-sister to the eight-time winning (including the G3 Tesio Stakes) mare VALKYRIE DIVA, who has gone on to produce three stakes winners including WONDER KID – JOLLY BANNER in Hong Kong, C’EST BEAU LA VIE and WALES – who by REDOUTE’S CHOICE won the Listed MRC Redoute’s Choice Stakes.
OPTIMIST’s impressive pedigree is made even more appealing, being of age to be utilised as a tax mare who herself has had five foals to race for four winners including the two stakes placed horses; BELIEVE (by FASTNET ROCK) and RINJANI (by CHOISIR).
BELIEVE has had two career wins at both 1300m and 1500m and was placed third in the G1 Australian Oaks and third in the G2 ATC Phar Lap Stakes. BELIEVE has begun her successful breeding career having produced a DUNDEEL colt in 2020 and in 2021 a colt by CASTELVECCHIO.
This is a family that continues to flourish and her impressive pedigree will only grow and develop in years to come as more members of the family hit the racetrack. She is currently in foal to ARROWFIELD’s SHOWTIME (by SNITZEL) who had a top priced colt sell for $200,000 this year at the Inglis Classic Sale.
Not a decision to have been taken lightly, this lovely mare is being offered due to wanting to reduce numbers and to make way for younger mares coming through in the family.
