Description
Irish import Chicago Bear is a lightly raced five-year-old with a record of 10: 3-0-1. He is a son of superstar sire Siyouni - sire of two of Europe's recent best in St Mark's Basilica & Sottsass.
Chicago Bear arrived in Australia on the back of two winning performances in Ireland. These were over 1600m at the Curragh on May 21, followed up by a win over 1800m at Leopardstown on June 2. He was then most unlucky at the Curragh on June 25 (finishing 4th - beaten 1.25L) before travelling over to Australia.
The horse didn't enjoy the best of runs at either of these Irish starts yet demonstrated real fighting qualities to win on two occasions and arguably should have won his most recent start when failing to gain a run in the straight.

Since arriving in Australia in late July 2022, Chicago Bear has settled in nicely to the Busuttin Racing stable (Cranbourne, Victoria). He has progressed through his first local preparation in a professional manner and not put a foot wrong.
Co-trainers Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young are very happy with what they have seen to date - those opinions were backed up by his winning performance at the Cranbourne jump outs on Monday 03/10/22 over 1000m.

Chicago Bear will have a second jump out on Monday 17/10/22 at Cranbourne and is expected to be seen at the races for an Australian debut in late October/early November.
He has been issued a Victorian rating of 76 which sees him able to be placed in an attractive manner initially. This provides great potential for an early return on investment - with him to start in metropolitan company with lucrative prize money attached.
The stable expects to see Chicago Bear measure up as a Group class 1600m-2000m horse in the future.
