Description
This colt is the first foal for the metro-winning sprinter ZARIYA. By MAKFI, and out of the winning HUSSONET mare Zarzing, ZARIYA won or placed in all of her starts for trainer John Thompson.
Bred in the purple, ZARIYA is closely related to Group One producer and European Horse of the Year ZARKAVA, while Zarzing’s full-sister ZARZALI is Group One performed and is the dam of last start Stakes performer ZACAPO.
From less than 100 runners SAXON WARRIOR has already sired the first crop juvenile Group One winner VICTORIA ROAD, plus the first crop Group winners MOON RAY, GREENLAND and LUMIERE ROCK.
Daughters of MAKFI are doing a sensational job at stud and have a Stakes winners to runners strike rate of 7.3%. Last start Queensland Derby winner KOVALICA is one of three Group One winners out of Makfi mares and it is also worth noting that there have been four runners our of mares bred on the same MAKFI / HUSSONET cross as ZARIYA and ALL are winners and include Group One winner MCKULICK, and Group Two winners FEARLESS KING and JUST BEAUTIFUL.
Bred on a very similar GALILEO / DANEHILL / MAKFI / HUSSONET cross as the afore mentioned Group One Belmont Oaks winner MCKULICK, this colt presents as a very exciting prospect.
