Description
ISLAND JOY is a good style of mare who could really gallop, and she is offered carrying her first foal by well received and highly commercial young stallion STAY INSIDE on a nice early service date.
Physical Comments:
ISLAND JOY stands approximately 16hh, she is a strongly built mare typical of the Hinchinbrook's, but with more quality. She has good feet and bone, is very correct with clean joints, moves out well and has nice width through her hocks. On inspection you will understand why she could really gallop.
Race Career:
At her best, ISLAND JOY on time data with leading Australian form experts was a Group class racehorse.
As a 2YO she won on debut over 1000m at Cranbourne, before finishing 2nd, beaten 0.75 of a length to Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed Crosshaven at Moonee Valley, Island Joy's final start as a 2YO.
At three her trainers Matt Ellerton and Simon Zahra thought enough of ISLAND JOY to start her fresh up in the Listed Poseidon Stakes over 1100m, where Group 1 winner September Run won this edition of the race. Her career best performance came in January of her 3YO year when taking a Flemington BM70 race by over 4 lengths, an effort she backed up at her next start behind Zou Dancer, Personal and Starelle in the Group 3 Vanity Stakes where she finished 4th.

Island Joy is by Hinchinbrook, a top young stallion who we lost too young, and a son of Fastnet Rock and Snippet's Lass, making him a half brother to Champion Sire Snitzel. As a broodmare sire Hinchinbrook has made a cracking start, running at 5% stakes winners from just over 100 runners, highlighted by 6 stakes winners, of which four were this season!!

Covering Sire:
Stay Inside has an incredible profile to make it as a sire being a Group 1 Golden Slipper winner and Champion 2YO by statistically one of the most potent stallions in the world, Extreme Choice.
His qualities have not been missed by the market, with 12 of Stay Inside's first crop weanlings selling at public auction for an average of $136,000 per Breednet.com.au. Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have shown their support early and paid $400,000 for a weanling filly by Stay Inside at the Magic Millions Weanling Sale last month.
Stay Inside covered 189 mares in his first season which the Stay Inside foal out of Island Joy will be selling on the back of. Newgate has communicated that 50% of the mares Stay Inside covered in his first book were stakes performers or producers, which makes him the best set up stallion in Newgate history through his first crop.
