Madam Loulou, a 9YO Stratum mare is proving to be a producer of quality types with all 3 of her foals to date having been selected to the incredibly competitive Inglis Melbourne Premier catalogue. No mean feat for a small breeder such as ourselves with a Ribchetser, Vino Rosso and a Strasbourg against the progeny of the likes of Written Tycoon, I Am Invincible, Zoustar etc.
The foal at foot, a first season filly by Widden’s Bruckner is no exception and you could be confident that the stallion will be well supported by the sale houses in 2026.
‘Loulou’ presents with a good pedigree, runners to come (her first having had just 3 runs to date and placed) and a page that should continue to improve with her female siblings producing foals by Farnan and Snitzel (ex Dixie Chick), Hellbent and Marine One (ex Singing Dixie), Dundeel and Castelvecchio ex Dixie’s Comet (who has already produced Champion 3YO (2022) GOLDEN MONKEY in Singapore). All of these foals together with Loulou’s Vino Rosso are yet to hit the track. Her sire, Stratum continues to rank in the TBA Leading Broodmare Sires table.
The mating to Bruckner ranks as a 20/20 and offers similar lines to Lindermann and Zoushine.
After 4 consecutive seasons in foal, Loulou was rested last year so ready for an early cover this coming season. She is fuss-free for the farrier, in the crush and floating and foals down easily and often without assistance.
Her Bruckner filly is a nice type, very correct and well proportioned, Never had a problem and should be a sound investment.
We elected not to wean the filly as we would normally in March for the sake of safer transport to a new home and for the new owner to take ownership of the weaning process.
This 2 in 1 package is regretfully offered for unreserved sale as the ongoing dry weather and increasing feed costs make continuing breeding unsustainable for us at this time.
If necessary, we may be able to assist with transport for a Victorian buyer.
