Madame Odette is a lightly raced stakes placed winner of $271,175, by leading sire Churchill (by Galileo), out of a daughter of four-times Champion Australian Sire Snitzel.

Madame Odette broke her maiden at her first start at Ipswich over 1200m, and then trained on just two starts later for a superb victory in the $100,000 Toowoomba TC Garden City Guineas over 1600m by a widening 5.5 lengths. Her trainer, Tony Gollan, thought enough of her to have a throw at the stumps in the $500,000 Group 3 ATC Gloaming Stakes at her next run, however, the Heavy 8 surface and the extra distance proved her undoing at the end of her first racing preparation, and she was spelled soon after.

Given an Oaks preparation as an Autumn 3yo, Madame Odette showed she was on track with a good second up run when second in the Listed BRC Princess Stakes (1615m) to Street Gossip, followed by a close fifth in the Listed GCTC Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) to Renaissance Woman. She failed to see out the extra distance in the Group 2 Roses (2000m) and the Group 1 Qld Oaks (2200m) at her next two starts, and from thereon in she was kept to shorter distances.

Her 4yo season saw Madame Odette victorious in Saturday company at both Doomben (1615m) and Eagle Farm (1810m), as well as a further four Brisbane Saturday placings at distances ranging from 1300m to 1666m, which saw her Benchmark Rating rise to an impressive 82.

A change of trainers at the start of her 5yo season was hoped would see some further improvement, however, the plan did not come off, and after four starts she was retired from racing in January this year.

Madame Odette’s sire Churchill, has been more than a solid stallion, having sired nearly 10% stakes horses to runners, and 30 stakes winners to date, including the likes of Group 1 winners Attrition (Toorak Hcp), Vadeni (French Derby) and Blue Rose Cen (French Oaks). In Australia he has also sired the smart $2 million+ earner and Group 2 winner Robusto (The Ingham), as well as the stakes winners Churchillian, First Immortal, Imperialist, etc, etc. He currently ranks in the top 30 stallions on this season’s Australian Sire List, with progeny earnings of just over $5 million.

Cloudwatch, Madame Odette’s dam, is by Snitzel, a stallion who requires no introduction. Her next three dams are all winners as 2yo’s and include the flying stakes winning filly Cloudlet. This is also the family of the very smart 2yo Zephyrz, winner of the GCTC Magic Millions 2yo Classic, as well as the Newcastle JC Coca-Cola Classic Gr.3.

Madame Odette is measured to stand 15.3 1/2 hands high. She is a well-balanced mare with a good girth and medium strength. She is easy to manage and has no vices to report. She is being offered for genuine sale, as her ownership group are not breeders.
