Description
CALANCHE is a beautiful style of mare, and this is reflected in the $950,000 she realised at the 2022 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
Typical of her sire FASTNET ROCK, Calanche has good size, scope and strength. She is an attractive mare with lots of quality. She has a good head, and a good action, coupled with a good hind part. She has a good shoulder and girth, and one would expect her to produce a very good first foal by HOME AFFAIRS.
CALANCHE is a full sister to Group One performer SOUTHBANK (Fastnet Rock) and she is out of the Group Three winning ZABEEL mare REZONED.
The first yearlings by HOME AFFAIRS have been extremely well received this year, selling to $3,200,000, with an average of over $272,000 and a median of $200,000. He has 278 live foals from his first two crops, and he covered a book of 225 mares last season at a fee of $82,500 – his biggest book to-date and the biggest book of all stallions in Australia in 2024.
